Weather of Madrid

With its geographical location in the mountain range in the middle of the country, it receives fresh wind from the mountain, cold wave in winter and warm wave in summer; however, people usually talk about Madrid’s climate as it is very much hot and dry.

In general, climate of Madrid is considered temperate by which it can be heating for 7 months and cooling for 4 months in an average year. Summer is between June and September which are claimed very hot especially during July to August. The average temperature in summer can be above 30 ºC or 85 ºF, it has been up to 40 ºC in the worse year. Spring is between March and May when the climate is the mildest with temperature of 17 ºC or 60 ºF; therefore, it is the best time to visit Madrid. However, May is a month that Madrid gets it most crowded and it is reasonably hard for visitors to find an accommodation. Winter is between October and February with the temperature laying in between 2-11 ºC or 36-52 ºF. It is cold during the day but at night it can be rather freezing. Snow is seen two or three times per year but usually it doesn’t last on the floor more than a day.

Madrid is quite a big city, depends on the place of the city, the temperature can be vary more than 5 ºC. The South and the Southeast are warmer than the North and the Northwest of the city.
