GEOGRAPHY

At the height of 650m or 2,100ft above sea level, Madrid is accorded the superlative as the highest capital in Europe. This home to some 4 million Spaniards is located in the middle of the Castillian plain, right in the heart of the peninsula. Due to such geographical component, summer and winter in Madrid tend to be extreme, with temperature peaking over 32° C in summer and receding below 10° C in winter, whereas spring and autumn are moderate with pleasant temperatures hovering above 20° C.
